Handwritten Wines

Handwritten 2013 Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills 750ml

There is an incredible focus in this wine that highlights the best red fruits that pinots are known for: bright bing cherry and freshly picked strawberries ooze out of the glass. While there is a light and airy quality to the body of the wine, the tannins are firm yet supple and the wine finish ultra smooth and easy. The legendary 'sea smoke' of fog off the Pacific Ocean maintains a relatively cool growing condition in the East-West oriented valley and provides fascinating background notes of smoke and earthy spice. This is the perfect 'all purpose' wine with versatility at the dining room table and the ability to be enjoyed on its own.

Harvest & Tasting Notes:

Growers in the Sta. Rita Hills region of California lose little sleep, this was no more true than in 2013. The Pinot Noir harvest proved early and bountiful and produced lovely ripe wines with notable freshness. Easy, even temperatures made for intensely developed flavors and aromas, marking the vintage as one of our favorite to date. Subtly perfumed with fresh raspberry, and warm spice, the aromas continue to develop in the glass lending worn leather, tobacco leaf, black tea and earthy, succulent morel mushrooms. On the palate, high-toned acidity is balanced by smooth tannins - cherries jubilee come to mind over a lingering finish. Drink now or cellar for two to three years.
